Requirements

- Driver’s licence and vehicle required.
- Grade 12 graduation plus some post-secondary education
- Relevant training and experience within a hospice/palliative care program
- Experience working in the non-profit social service sector and/or health sector
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective leadership and team-building skills with volunteers and community partners
- Strong ability to independently plan, organize, and carry out work assignments effectively
- Ability to develop and evaluate programs
- Ability to deal with emergent situations under stress and exercise reasonable judgment when dealing with patients, families, volunteers and colleagues
- Competent use of Microsoft Office programs and gmail
- Some ability to manage website and Facebook
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Use of a vehicle and valid driver's licence and insurance
- Ability to understand and comply with PRHS policies and procedures, vision, mission and values
- Willing to be flexible in hours depending on operational needs
- Provide a clear criminal record clearance every 5 years

Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative Responsibilities:
- Check and respond to incoming emails, calls, and faxes on a regular basis andm aintain and update databases, client and volunteer files and ensure hospice related pamphlets are well stocked and ready for distribution
- Maintain an active presence for Hospice on social media, update and keep website current
- Attend Board meetings as required
- Provide ongoing communication to volunteers and public as needed
- Produce a monthly report to the Board of Directors which includes statistics related to hospice operations, program updates and any risk management concerns
- Perform other clerical tasks as required
Hospice Support Program Management and Development:
- Recruit, interview, train, supervise, motivate and support volunteers *Receive client referrals, arrange initial intake visits and determine volunteer placement
- Organize and conduct monthly volunteer support meetings including educational in-services and/or training activities and assist with volunteer recognition
- Ensure expenditures remain within budgetary guidelines
- Promote the Hospice Support Program in the community as requested by the Board
- Liaise with medical personnel and other members of the community as required
- Ensure all hospice programs are maintained in accordance with BCHPCA standards
- Attend hospice-related conferences, workshops and meetings and share learned information as requested
- Develop, modify and review operational policies and procedures in conjunction with, and approval of, the Board of Directors

- Powell River Hospice Society (PRHS) is looking for a 6-month contract Hospice Program Coordinator to work 15 hours/week
