Requirements

The following skills and qualifications are required for this leadership role:
- 3+ years experience in the non-profit sector, preferably in a leadership position
- Bachelor’s degree or some post-secondary education preferred
- resource development experience and knowledge of effective fundraising strategies
- an effective and enthusiastic leader in the community
- demonstrated skills in partnership development and community building
- project management skills
- grant writing experience
- facility with a variety of productivity and social media platforms
- knowledge of the United Way Centraide Canada movement is an asset
- organizational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- strong interpersonal, networking and communication skills (written and verbal)
- sensitivity to cultural diversity
- the ability to develop and sustain positive professional relationships
- experience working with a variety of stakeholders across the volunteer and public sectors
- ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- ability to manage a varied and challenging workload
- ability to build and lead teams, work under pressure, and meet deadlines and goals
- share our commitment to putting people at the heart of all we do

Duties and Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership:
- collaborating with the PRDUW Board and key stakeholders to develop strategies for the resource development and community impact work of PRDUW
- representing PRDUW in the community
- communicating the PRDUW mandate, vision and services offered to the qathet community
- building and maintaining positive relationships with key partners and stakeholders including local governments, social service agencies and businesses
- supervising program and administrative staff (currently one part-time staff)
- providing regular reports to the Board of Directors to support program evaluation and organizational decision-making
- building positive relationships with colleagues at United Way Centraide Canada (UWCC) and other United Way Centraides to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing
- professional maintenance, security and confidentiality of files and documents, including financial statements and compliance reporting to UWCC

Community Impact:
- developing and maintaining relationships with community partners to understand key issues facing vulnerable communities and inform PRDUW strategic direction and community impact programs
- identifying emerging funding, program and partnership opportunities, determining priority and urgency, gathering and compiling background information, and briefing the Board for timely and appropriate decisions and actions
- providing leadership and project management for established and emerging community impact programs, including PRDUW grant funding programs for social service agencies and emergency financial assistance program for low-income households
- advocating for the needs of families and vulnerable populations in the Powell River area

Resource Development:
- developing and implementing strategies for resource development including grant funding, workplace campaigns, a wide variety of fundraising initiatives
- identifying private and/or grant funding to support the development or continuation of programs and services that address specific community needs
- developing and implementing annual project plans for the fall campaign
- identifying and recruiting community leaders to participate in the annual campaign, either as volunteers or in establishing workplace campaigns
- developing marketing strategies and promotional materials for the annual campaign and payroll deduction programs
- developing and implementing strategies for year-round donor engagement and stewardship
