Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil or mechanical engineering preferred
- A minimum of ten years of successful project management experience
- Knowledge of hydroelectric power generation technologies an asset
- Sound experience in the design, delivery and management of construction and maintenance projects along with technical awareness across all disciplines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, Excel and Microsoft Project
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, acts decisively, be flexible and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Thorough knowledge of construction and maintenance project safety and environmental rules and regulations
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering specifications, blueprints and drawings and related technical procedures, and effectively communicate findings orally and in writing
- Possess good written and oral communication skills
- Possess good supervisory and interpersonal skills. Focus on solving conflict, remain open-minded, and balance team and individual responsibilities
- Encourage growth and skills in staff, exhibit confidence in self and others, and demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness and professionalism

Duties and Responsibilities

- Ensure that company personnel, contractors and consultants are following company approved safety, security and environmental policies and procedures, and that public and company property is protected
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory licenses, permits and company codes of operation and conduct
- Oversee the quality of work performed by the contractors and vendors
- Plan and execute capital and major maintenance projects with strict adherence to defined scope, schedule and budgets; assembling, negotiating and supervising contracts as required
- Managing multiple major and capital maintenance plans (one-year, five-year, and twenty-year) to optimize performance of generation assets – maintaining safety, reliability, generation, availability, and cost
- Provide the required technical expertise and direction for the Operations
- Review and analyze designs, specifications, plans, estimates and reports involved with the projects
- Supervise day-to-day activities of department staff as well as multiple crews and contractors on site, and provide direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to staff
- Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees and contractors, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
